In a continued series of trainings, made possible through the Massachusetts Safety Grant Program, caregivers from the Home Health Connection in Amesbury MA attended our training today entitled "Safe Approach to Violent Patients." The Home Health Connection trains caregivers to become Home Health Aids and Certified Nursing Assistants through its office in Amesbury MA. Many of its employees work in home care, nursing home, or hospital settings. Thank you to Donna Gilford for caring enough about your workers to provide this training to protect their safety!
This training was designed by David Wahl MD with the goal of preventing conflict, managing conflict appropriately, and keeping caregivers and healthcare workers safe in the workplace.
Did you know that over 70% of workplace violence takes place in the healthcare system? Most every nurse and personal care giver has experienced violent outbursts, either verbal or physical, from their clients or their client's families--or will at some point in their careers..
Each caregiver has 5 Unique Personal Response Tools they can use at all times to manage a conflict: Your Patience, Your Perspective, Your Knowledge, Your Experience, and Your Creativity.
